The End
of the World
We often hear
about the uncertainty of our future, about cataclysms that will shake the earth, about
nuclear war. It is said that the planet will be destroyed by pollution and that we are in
the times described in the Book of Revelation. All this makes us live in fear of an end of
the world that seems to be so close.
But it is awful
to live like that! It is terrible to live with this feeling of being in a hopeless
situation! If it were to be so, nothing would have any meaning any more! Why bother in
preparing for the future? Why make so many efforts if EVERYTHING IS CONDEMNED TO A
DREADFUL END anyway?
No, God doesn't
want us to live like that, and we know it very well.
It is true that
humanity, by rejecting God and his laws, and by considering itself to be equal to God, is
at the brink of disaster. But nothing is lost yet.
There is always
time for us to come back to God's laws, by orienting our future with Him and entrusting
Him our life. The future of the world belongs to Him anyway, since He is the Creator and
Lord of the universe.
So... take
heart, and don't let the thought of the end of the world worry you. This end will come one
day, yes, because the physical world in its own substance is not eternal, and there is
nothing you can do about it!
Worry rather
about your own end of the world. It is near for all of us, and it is the personal
end of the world for each one of us what is important. We must be ready for this big
encounter. Our end may come suddenly, because we don't know when we are going to die. Let
this thought be an invitation to prepare yourself, to change your heart and come back to
God, while there is still time.
Think "
if you die in sin, you will come back to life in sin; if you die in faithfulness, you
will come back to life in faithfulness. It is thus important to be always
ready and ask for forgiveness each day, to be preserved from evil" (message
given by Jesus to Emmanuel, in Kibeho, Africa, in 1982).
Remember that
without God you are like a little twig tossed by the waves in the middle of the ocean. You
don't know where the waves take you, and you don't have control of the rudder! But be
certain that God is nearby, and that He is your way and your only hope. Therefore, instead
of rejecting Him, turn yourself completely to Him. Call Him, trust Him and give Him your
life. He doesn't want to abandon you, and if you really desire it, from the bottom of your
heart, He will come to your rescue with love, so that you may live in freedom and
happiness...
in Him.
