Words
To talk, to
exchange, and to tell stories, to laugh... this is to communicate with others, to know
them, to share and... to live. To talk is also to learn and to deepen our knowledge.
We use words to
express our feelings of love, sadness or hatred. We can pronounce words of support or...
of indifference.
That is why it
is so important to be careful of what we say and the way we say it, by respect for others
and for their own good.
Each word, even
the most insignificant one, that you may pronounce as by chance, can find an echo in the
other's heart and transform or change the person who listens. Your influence will be good
or bad according to what you say. Words are very powerful. They are capable of giving new
life. But they can also hurt or even kill: words of hatred, lies, words that give false
testimony, proud words that humiliate others, ironic comments, words of anger and
jealousy...
If for only a
few hours you analysed your conversations in order to find out "why have you spoken,
what have you said, and with what purpose have you said it", you would be surprised.
In our daily
life, we are invaded by a torrent of useless words that we pour out just by habit, often
to say nothing, to "let the steam off" or to make ourselves insensible. And yet,
we have so many personal treasures to share that could do so much good!..
"The
jealous ear listens to everything,
and to it nothing escapes.
Keep your tongue from evil talks.
For a furtive word will not be without effect.
The tongue of the liar gives death to the soul."
(Book of
Wisdom)
Be watchful, so
that your words will not sow confusion, but be instead for all a path to unity.
