To Be a Good Shepherd

In our time, the term "pastoral" has been so distorted that it has lost its true significance, which is: to be a good shepherd. The human being is not only the body or the intelligence... it is also the spiritual.

These three aspects are inseparable and necessary to attain the full accomplishment of the human being. Therefore, it is important that they develop together, harmoniously.

In time, the spiritual should become progressively the part that assumes the leadership in our existence. It is thus essential that a proper education assure young people the complete development of their person.

"Pastoral" services are complementary to the teaching of the Church. Their objective is to help the young in their spiritual journey and the questions they have about the profound meaning of life. They are also needed to help them understand that they are an important component in God's plan.

The persons in charge of education must be aware of this problem and recognize that it is urgent that education be completed in this essential area.

You, who are preparing to enter life, insist on that. It is your right!
