Love
Selfish love,
centred on yourself, isolates you.
Such
"love" confines you to your own little shell preventing you to progress. If you
place yourself in this standstill, wanting to enjoy everything and take without giving,
you will turn around in a vicious circle and cut yourself off progressively from
everybody. You will become a prisoner of your own attitude.
Little by
little, this attitude will extinguish in your heart the deepest aspirations that lead you
to enjoy the greatness and freedom you have been created for. We need to learn to put
aside our own selfish interests in order to think of others... through love.
"I
may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I have no love, my
speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired
preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith
needed to move mountains - but if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give away everything
I have, and even give up my body to be burned - but if I have no love, this does me no
good.
Love
is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or
selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil,
but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never
fail. Love is eternal." (1
Corinthians 13, 1-8)
Maybe you will
say that if all of us were like that, this world would be Paradise. And that's right, we
have been created to live like that. It is up to YOU... up to US. Don't wait
for others to do it. Start yourself to live like that from this very moment. You will see
how your life, and the life of those around you, will be transformed and changed.
